Kallie Ahern of Schuylerville holds the bald eagle that she and her stepfather, Michael Liotta, rescued after finding it alongside the road Thursday near Schuylerville Central School. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation came and picked up the eagle to begin rehabilitating its wing. (Photo courtesy of Michael Liotta)

A Schuylerville father and his stepdaughter helped to rescue a bald eagle with a fractured wing Thursday near Schuylerville Central School. Michael Liotta and his 11-year-old stepdaughter Kallie Ahern wrapped the injured bird in Ahern's coat until the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation could come pick up the eagle and begin rehabilitating its wing. Liotta said Ahern was scared of the eagle at first, but thought it was pretty cool once she got to hold it.

Glad to see the eagle is in good hands, but don't forget how dangerous they can be.
