There's a gutter even lower than freeperland

I often get frustrated by wingnuts in social media etc., but there is an older format where
their bullshit is not only tolerated but thriving. No, it's not formally a conservative site
it's supposedly a forum for city related questions and to be sure, many people post questions on places to move, school districts
city developments and a lot of other random subjects.

However if you look at the sites' own view count by subject forum, one forum dominates in traffic.

That's the political forum of course and the site is city
data

If you do a search you'll find people in blogs etc venting over the right wingness of this forum and the blatant racist and other
scummy posts that dominate the forum.

There is a clear bias by forum moderators which enables the wingnuts.

I joined a long time ago like so many others - for non political reasons. However upon stumbling into the political forum, I was astounded by the level of racism and also the typical conservative BS.

Many posters do the FOX style question for thread titles "Why is Obama a Muslim?'

"Why do Democrats hate Christians?" I just made those up, but not really.

Anyway, I have received "infractions" for calling some of this bullshit out, but I wanted to share to my experience with you all so that you aware of this site and it's true undercurrent.

that no, you do NOT hate Obama solely because he is black or no, you do NOT hate women or no you do NOT hate Latino's or Muslims

Any support of decency and fairness can get you in physical danger, but the major problem is if you are in business, well you might as well just slit your throat.

I wish I lived in an area that was entirely liberals and all my customers were, but I am lucky if one in three are.

What most of them have in common is their TeaParTY mentality.

In my case it is my own fault for not leaving here many years ago, now either I do business with them or starve.

I dont always like myself for this reason

Point being when you post comments in your real name in your city blog or city FB page, you run a great risk

and talk with locals and I was pointing out that for people who are used to doing this on a national level, like DU, they need to remember that people they work with or for or are neighbors etc can read their comments and know who you are, etc.

I personally stay away from local stuff unless I can hide my identity but in most of these cases you cant, or maybe you can on this one, not sure.

Other than that I was appreciating you pointing this site out and how disgusting these people are

5. that's not really relevant for a couple reasons...

One, people don't use their names and the discussions often aren't something that can lead someone to identify themselves

Second, my point is focused specifically on the politics sub forum which has more traffic than most of the other forums combined and
almost feels like it's the true center of the site.

time you use FB or similar to sign in and post and most people use their real names.

These type of sites do highlight how active your American Taliban TeaParTY types are, the nastiest of the nasty tend to post on public sites like that.

but in any case. My point is that the sub forum of politics is bat shit crazy.
