A University of Oklahoma fraternity leader speaks out:

THIS is what it's all about-

(snip)
"As an African American male in the OU Greek community, I was recently elected president of Phi Delta Theta, the highest leadership role in a chapter that is the fourth largest on campus... In my experience, the majority of the OU Greek community is inclusive of all minorities, and it saddens me to see our Greek community being painted as “racist” according to the media and even fellow OU students. While I am in no way excusing the actions of the members of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, I think it is important that our local community and the rest of our nation do not let one small group overshadow the true nature of Greek life at OU. The actions of the members of Sigma Alpha Epsilon were rooted purely in ignorance and were those of incredibly immature 'children' — but it is not representative of today’s richly diverse culture in our Greek community."

"My experience in the OU Greek community has been an incredible one. This community has helped make me into the person I am today. It has never been about color, creed, sexual preference, etc. This Greek community truly is a family, has welcomed me, and is one of the reasons I attend this university. Going through recruitment, I never once felt out of place...."

This guy sounds painfully naive, tbh.

eta: I don't disagree with the overall message.

That said, Greek life can be a boon. Racism needs to be addressed forcefully. Not mutually exclusive ideas.

Stockholm syndrome, or capture-bonding, is a psychological phenomenon in which hostages express empathy and sympathy and have positive feelings toward their captors, sometimes to the point of defending and identifying with the captors.

or is this Enabler's Denial as seen in alcoholism, for those who are addicted to racism ?

Or, it refers to someone around the addict who is denying the progression and impact of an addict's escalating addiction (sometimes referred to as an enabler). The enabler's denial allows the addict to keep using, and it denies the impact that the addict's addiction is having on family members. Denial, in this sense, can lead to considerable dysfunction within the family system, because there is a "cover up," an ever-growing "secret" that family members do not feel free to talk about. When a family is steeped in denial, the person who is trying to say that "the emperor has no clothes on" is generally viewed negatively by those who are not willing to see what's really going on.
