Hollywood: "We loved your book and want to make it into a movie. But all the Death stuff is depressing, so we want to take that out."

Pratchett: "Did you even read the book?"

Mort=morte (Fr. for death). Many layers to Sir Terry; that's why he rereads so well. I think I shall go reread them all, in memoriam.

I should have known his end was near. When he was first diagnosed, someone made lilac corsages to benefit his Alzheimer's charity. I bought one and wore it proudly back in 2007. I just found it earlier this week and will sadly wear it for the foreseeable future.

RIP, sir, and many, many thanks. During my darkest days, I read and reread his books. [Deity of choice] bless all humor writers.

Too young to die - what a loss. He created one hell-of-a universe with his four elephants holding up the Great Turtle with Discworld afloat on top of it. What an imagination and creative genius.

"Terry passed away in his home, with his cat sleeping on his bed surrounded by his family on 12th March 2015."

The only good thing is that is suffering is now over. He will be missed.

I'm just gutted to think that he's gone, that his marvelous brain won't be creating any more. He was a unique talent and he will be truly missed.

I hope Death came gently for him. Only the worthy (and witches and wizards) get a personal visit from Death when passing over.

(If you haven't read his books, that last bit won't make any sense. Sorry.)

One of my favorite writers.
I'm glad he had his cat and family with him. I like to think that there was another there, too. A tall, dark fellow who spoke in Gothic Blackletter and sounded remarkably like Christopher Lee, and said: "What a pleasure, Sir Terry. Do come with me. In my palace, you'll have your very own writing desk surrounded by kittens. I have lots of those."

Terry Pratchett was also a player of computer role-playing games. He played TES4: Oblivion and worked with at least one modder with her additions to the game. The quote below is from mod author Emma on the Nexusmods forum, which hosts mods and additions for many games including Oblivion and Skyrim.

Myself, I'm so very grateful to this thoughtful, generous and down to earth person who has not only taken the time to brainstorm over Vilja with me and even write dialog for her, but also inspired so many other of my Oblivion mods. You like the crafting features of my cottages? Well, I'd say it's very much thanks to Terry that they are there. "Give a Gift" - he gave me the idea to the mod, and he also named every aftershave and perfume in it. He came up with the idea of the packdonkeys, and when he playtested it, he managed to make the original packdonkey, Humphrey, climb a lighthouse stair! The Goblin-peace amulet that is a reward in the second Vilja-questline was originally made for him, so that he could easier "research" the goblin caves for his book "Snuff". And it was he who came up with the idea of letting Vilja "Lead the way".

Terry Pratchett was a wonderful author and a very wise person, but he also was "one of us" - someone who thoroughly enjoyed to play Oblivion, to play with mods and to talk about mods, and to role-play a life as an adventurer in Cyrodiil.

Don't know what more to say right now... Rest in peace, Terry, and thank you so very, very much
