A friend was flying Norm Coleman to the same destination at the same time and was within a few miles of the Wellstone plane when it went down. She could not explain why that plane should have crashed. Weather was drizzly and unpleasant but she said it was absolutely no barrier to safe and normal flying. According to her there was absolutely no reason on gawd's green earth the Wellstone plane should have crashed.

If I hadn't heard this directly from a pilot who was in the near vicinity I might have thought it was woo. But given her presence and what she said, the idea of it being "on purpose" cannot be dismissed, IMO.
