A favorite tactic of the Bush Cartel---and the NeoCons--is to create a fire to distract from a potentially damaging fire. We know who is speaking to Congress today. We know who is a darling of the Neo-Cons, who hold considerable sway at the NYT. The major news media have shut out you know whose speech. Dems are pissed. The president is pissed. Congress and you know who may have violated the law. They have certainly spit in the face of foreign policy tradition. What to do?
Let's get the Dems all fired up by claiming that their favorite too middle of the road punching bag broke a law---before the law was passed.
Here's Media Matters on the latest tempest in a teapot.

The New York Times accused Hillary Clinton of potentially violating federal law pertaining to the preservation of e-mail records while acting as Secretary of State, but requirements to maintain such records did not exist during her tenure.
Most damning of all: this "news" is not New. We have known since 2013 that she used personal email.
Use Of Non-Government Email Is Not New. Business Insider reported that it has been known since 2013 that Clinton used a non-government email, undercutting the campaign to scandalize the fact:
Clinton emailed from a personalized domain, clintonemail.com. Records show it was registered on the day of her confirmation hearing in January 2009. Along with State Department business, the officials said Clinton also used the email address to communicate with friends and family.
Her address was revealed in early 2013, shortly after she left the State Department. [Business Insider, 3/3/15]
After the WaPo's infamous "Pelosi Knew" story which was used to divert Dems attention from the fact that CIA torture material had been illegally destroyed, I hoped that Dems had learned not to get punked by the MSM. Looks like I was wrong.
PS For those who say "But we could not have known that the NYT would try to mislead us" 1) If Clinton broke a law in her use of email the House Benghazi committee would have already been all over it like hobos on a ham sandwich and 2) Judy Miller.

(2,004 posts)Boehner's and the GOP mistakes have been epic the last two weeks from CPAC, Bibi, and their huge failure with the DHS funding. They were desperate for a diversion. It is sad how many supposed progressives are so willing to trash the Clintons any chance they get.
