AeroMobil 3.0, the flying car, is the core product of the Slovakia-based company AeroMobil. It has been in development since 1989.
In flight, it can reach 124 mph and fly for 430 miles on a full tank of gas. Owners could park it in normal parking spots and fill up its gas at normal gas stations. It gets 29 miles per gallon in driving mode.

(8,217 posts)Though yeah, as per mentioned, I've never seen him that way. I actually had to do a double take.

(10,201 posts)By October we need flying cars, hover boards, Mr. Fusion, etc...
Also, don't forget that the Cubs will win the series this year....
I can't believe that we have fulfilled Star Trek, and have transparent aluminum, but we are not flying cars everywhere.

(78,249 posts)As I recall, both clubs are members of the National League. The World Series is contested between the victors -- "pennant winners" -- of the National and American leagues.
Also, the World Series is played in a best four out of seven format, rendering a "5 game sweep" outside the realm of possibility.
And lest we forget, Joe DiMaggio's 56-game hitting streak will at some point be broken by the shortstop for the London Kings.

(10,201 posts)1. Either the Marlins or Cubs will move to the AL. Or, an AL team may move to Miami mid-season.
2. In the future (October), the World Series will be a best of 9 not 7.

(8,976 posts)...and surely expensive. Same idea from the 50's (see: Bob Cumming's TV Aerocar) and all the same problems. As a plane the performance is lower than lower priced purpose-built airplanes and must adhere to the same licensing and maintenance standards. It still takes off from an airport and lands at an airport.
As a car it is limited as to ease of operation, cargo weight restrictions and hobbled by a wheelbase that makes you want to yodel the old truck driver's lament "Give me 40 acres and I'll turn this rig around"...

(8,976 posts)Currently drives at maximum 35 mph-in fact the company brochure states it must be registered as a 3 wheeled motorcycle. Try maneuvering a 21.5 foot, three wheeled motorcycle (with limited visibility) thru your local Burger King...
Since it must take off from an airport anyhow (barring huge legislative changes) the vertical take-off ability becomes a second penis-impressive but worthless. It's normal flight envelope is easily exceeded By cheaper standard aircraft. For those who know the cost of aircraft maintenance the thought of the cost of inspections on 4 engines is cringe inducing.
In some dim garage a twisted genius sweats to combine a submarine and an all terrain vehicle, and given enough time and money he will succeed. That doesn't mean the result will be desirable...
