In 200 years, no foreign leader has ever addressed Congress to denounce the President's policies,

much less while sensitive negotiations are ongoing, and the leader is in the midst of a re-election battle.

That's what will be happening tomorrow, and that's why all the Democratic members of Congress should be boycotting this media event.

http://www.ktvn.com/story/28241222/foreign-talks-to-congress-often-a-yawn-but-not-netanyahus

WASHINGTON (AP) - Given anywhere else, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's speech Tuesday wouldn't cause such a fuss.

But a foreign leader denouncing U.S. policy from within the grand hall of American democracy upends nearly two centuries of tradition.

A joint meeting of Congress, gathering senators and representatives together in the House chamber, is a ceremony typically bestowed on one or two friendly foreign leaders per year. It looks a lot like a presidential State of the Union address. The speaker embodies his or her nation; the audience of lawmakers represents all Americans.

Unity and shared purpose are the standard themes. Standing ovations are a given.

"It establishes there is a strong bond between the two nations," said Kathleen Hall Jamieson, director of the University of Pennsylvania's Annenberg Public Policy Center. "In that context, a speech that provokes controversy at home or abroad is problematic."

This Congress has set all kinds of records for futility and ineptitude. They absolutely hate Obama and will do everything in their power to undermine him, including colluding with foreign governments to undermine the President.

What do you call it when an American citizen colludes with a foreign government to undermine the United States?

There's a word for it....

and you may be right about the republicans but this shows it's not hurting Bibi at all - in fact, his numbers have increased with Democrats and Republicans:

http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/netanyahu-favorability-speech

And according to a Gallup poll released Monday, 45 percent of Americans view Netanyahu favorably, up from 35 percent in 2012.

Sixty percent of Republicans said they view Netanyahu favorably, while only 31 percent of Democrats do. But Netanyahu's favorability has still improved among Democrats, despite their opposition to his speech this week.

Netanyahu's favorability has gone up 6 points with Democrats and 10 points with Republicans since 2012.

If a DEMOCRATIC congress did this shit to a republican president it would be the most treasonous thing ever committed in the history of the entire universe.

Even greater than the current most treasonous thing that has ever occurred - a president getting a blowjob.

This is expected from the Repugs, they will do and say anything against Obama.

But what really gets my blood boiling is that there will be democratic congress people in attendance of this speech.

And we have no one to thank for this betrayal of the party and president other than the third-way part of the part which has used it corporate money to take control of the party.

These democratic members may be afraid of AIPAC, but they are only afraid because they rely on AIPAC to make the flow of money from the 1% easier.

This just goes to show that the third-way democrats are a blight on our party, that they care nothing about loyalty or the country, and they only care about raising enough money to get re-elected by being subservient to the 1%.

And the worst insult is that they want us to vote for their latest attempt at the presidency. ha!

snatch executive power from the mixed race, "muslim loving" "kenyan" POTUS by a bunch of white, whiny and now a destructive congressional majority that has been allowed with very little push back from my so-called leaders. Been pretty quiet these last six plus years, against both those very same whiny white people and ALL their lackeys in both political parties and in our highest court. This has truly been a revealing six plus years with my POTUS bringing out the hate that white people, who are racist, have ALWAYS had, to the very front of the stage. I mean this ignorance and stupidity, by these racist and other type obstructionist pigs that call themselves leaders, is sickening. This last six years has NOT made me respect our culture or it racist beginnings, middle and, so far, the present continuing hate that white males, females and their self hating lackeys of this country and political/cultural system CANNOT ever hide anymore. Totally disgusting! Exceptional? NO!!!!!!.

The hue and cry against all this should have reached high heaven, yet it has only been deafeningly quiet, except by some on this forum. I truly respect those who have not been apologists for the murder/executions, political mayhem and general american racism that the RW and RW media has agitated these last six plus years.

America, you have always been a disappointment to me with the lying obviousness of your grand hypocrisy. Now even more after six years of this spectacle called american poltics.

Tue Mar 3, 2015, 09:57 AM
Mar 2015

The Dominionists or Christian Nationalists (Read right wing Republican) are all for Israel because their Scofield Annotated Bible has taught them that when all the Jews have returned to Israel (by force or voluntarily), Jesus, the Avenging God will return to rule from Solomon's Temple which will have been rebuilt by the returning Jews after destroying the Mosque on the Temple Mount. Christ the Avenger will lead an army of the faithful onto the Plains of Armageddon to fight the muslim hoards. Once they have been conquered or killed, Christ the Avenger will kill all the Jews but 144,000 to bear witness to what they have lost by killing him in the first place.

You can't make this stuff up. I recently met a young man who was a former Seal and "contractor" who was wearing an American Flag crossed with an Israeli Flag. He was going to return as a "contractor" once he finished his degree in Criminal Justice. He told me he was a "non-denominational evangelical who was prepared to fight the infidels on the Plains of Armageddon for his lord and savior. He thought because I am Jewish that I am all for it.
