A new Public Policy Polling survey finds that 62% of voters think its important for the President to have a degree, compared to only 31% who think it doesnt matter.
Interesting: Theres a large partisan divide on the issue: Democrats by an 81%-14% spread think its important while Republicans are evenly divided on the matter at 45%-45%.

(135,425 posts)A college degree today is like a high school diploma seventy years ago--it's a baseline educational goal for most people. Sure, there are "different learners" -- there are a few in my own family -- for whom university just wasn't the thing, but completing university suggests a willingness to set a goal and achieve it. It's an indicator of discipline and let's people know that the person with the degree has a modicum of basic knowledge (hopefully--unless they partied through college and got someone else to take their tests...).
