Seems totally legit. After all, Obama is a muslimkenyancommunist who wants to take everyone's guns, establish America as a Muslim caliphate and implement Sharia law while throwing all non-believers in FEMA camps so their organs can be harvested.

But conservatives are on to him!

It would be an amazing scoop. “Well placed sources” in the Israeli government confess that after many nights of “deliberation” Israel had actually prepared to bomb Iran’s nuclear facilities last year. That plan only thwarted when President Obama himself threatened to shoot down the Israeli planes. Wow.

Now major publications like FoxNews.com and The Daily Caller in addition to the usual suspects in the conservative blogosphere have picked up on the “report.” It’s even the lead story on Drudge.

​It fits so neatly into many conservatives pre-conceived notion of President Obama’s Israel policy — except, of course, that it’s almost certainly untrue.

The source of the report so absurd that one might think it emanated from the parody site The Onion. Try and keep this straight: a Bethlehem-based news agency called Ma’an cited a Kuwaiti newspaper called Al-Jarida which is now, in turn, being cited by something called Israel National News which is serving as the source for the American publications.

2. I'm uncertain if al-Jarida is credible or not

I didn't spend the time pumping the entire site through google translate (and Arabic translates kind of funny anyway, apparently it's got as many colliquialisms and localisms as English, who knew?)

However, for a second, let's start at the beginning. say Israel did have such a plan, and did put it to the Administration? The president would have to ask himself, what would the repercussions be. and the answer to that question, "what happens if Israel starts a war with Iran?" is really quite frightening.

The best, the absolute best that can be hoped for, is that Israel flies its sortie, and Iran shoots them down itself, triggering high tensions, maybe a few rockets chucked from Hezbollah, and so on. Sadly that's not the most likely scenario. The most likely scenario is that Israeli fighters get past the Iranian air defense, strike their targets, and then Iran responds with long-range missiles. Syria and hezbollah also mobilize against Israel, triggering an Israeli invasion of Syria and possibly Lebanon. This causes a sudden crisis in the other Arab states; stand with Syria / Lebanon against Israel, or join Israel against Iran. Saudi Arabia will almost certainly throw in with Israel against Syria and Iran, the rest are a toss-up. This crisis results in civil conflicts within these nations, Daesh grows in power and spreads (and god help everyone if we're still trying to fight those bastards while this is starting.) The conflict has a real chance to go global from there as Russia moves to support its ally in Syria, the US steps in to help Israel and Saudi Arabia, and the rest of the Muslim world goes Fucking Plotz. In the end it could come down to a nuclear exchange; Pakistani nukes passed to Iran vs. Israel's nukes.

I will happily assume Obama would go to great lengths to prevent this from happening. and from what i know about netanyahu, it would take something truly dire being said by hte US, for him to change a course of action like this.

So, if Israel presented this plan to the US, I have no doubt that the Administration would make it absofuckinglutely clear that it would in no way shape or form be allowed if the US can stop it - even if that means threatening to shoot down Israeli fighters, if that's what it would take.

So, I guess my question isn't whether or not Obama made the threat, but whether Israel proposed the plan. if Israel did, then I have no doubt Obama would "go there' to halt it.
