And no, I wont play that silly game of linking you to any of the hundreds of posts alleging that there is so little difference in the parties that if Hillary is the candidate it is a waste of time
they are everywhere and to deny it is dishonest
are you dishonest?

(25,699 posts)I just ran "Killery" through Du's search function, since you declined to provide a link. Know what I found? I found your post here, an OP by Cali_Democrat making the same claim, also without a link, and a scattering of posts from 2008. I found like five posts from 2013-14 with "killary" on the off chance you misspelled.
Now. This makes two times on one thread you have made a pretty big claim without backing it up. I'm not calling you a liar, but I would like to see you substantiate what you're saying, if you don't mind.

If you search for #cpacq, the questions are coming more from people who are telling them how ignorant and corrupt they are.

But we all know they pump the public and as

See, in my line of work you got to keep repeating things over and over and over again for the truth to sink in, to kind of catapult the propaganda.

(94,737 posts)1. CPAC has been around for decades, so it's established in the minds of political reporters. By comparison, Netroots Nation has only been around since 2006.
2. For the past 7 years, Democrats have held the White House, so there's no progressive conference attracting potential Presidential candidates, which is the sole focus of news coverage that CPAC gets (seriously, name a CPAC workshop you've seen covered).
3. Quiet frankly, Republican candidates make for better copy than Democrats...

I saw the annual Netroots Nation conference on CSPAN once, probably summer 2012 in Colorado. It had a very good panel but low attendance judging from the scan of the audience. Joan Walsh of Salon, Ben Jealous of the NAACP, Sen. Jeff Merkley (OR), maybe Bill McKibben were main speakers.
CPAC holds their conference every year I think in Washington DC which they hate and want to drown in the bathtub, up there in 'communist country' as Joe McCain, bro. of the Senator said in 2008.

prone to saying rational, well-thought out, fact-based, intelligent things.

(37,162 posts)When it was first started, CPAC was one of the major venues for forging and managing the conservative coalition from Reagan onward. For most of reporters' careers it was a "major political event" that deserved coverage, even as it drifted further and further into whackadoodlestan. Plus snubbing it would simply confirm conservatives neverending claim of "liberal media bias".
And let's not forget location. Location, location, location.
It's in Washington (or right across the river from it), where the political reporters are already located and it's convenient to get to. And it's there every year. It's easy, a "big story" for very little effort.
In comparison, Netroots Nation (originally named Yearly Kos) has been held at: Las Vegas, Chicago, Austin, Pittsburgh, Las Vegas again, Minneapolis, Providence, San Jose, and this year will be in Detroit. Various factors go into the decision of where to hold it, but one element that is not high on the selection criteria is making it no-brainer easy for lazy-ass Washington-based political reporters to go to.
