A coworker just used the phrase. I'm 80% sure it refers to giving someone the middle finger, but I was curious if any of the slightly older folks on this board have any idea of the history behind it.

(3,747 posts)It comes from the "Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers" by Gibert Shelton. Giving someone the middle finger is giving them the Official Junior Peaceman Salute.
The key was that "peace man" was actually "peaceman".

(1 post)Fat Freddy, of the "Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers" comic series (I'll never forgive my ex for stealing our copies and never giving them back!) coined that phrase and followed it with the "middle finger" - I was hoping I could find a pic to post on Facebook, which is how I found your question. And yes, I'm old.
