China drops leading technology brands for state purchases.. thanks NSA

(Reuters) - China has dropped some of the world's leading technology brands from its approved state purchase lists, while approving thousands more locally made products, in what some say is a response to revelations of widespread Western cybersurveillance.

Others put the shift down to a protectionist impulse to shield China's domestic technology industry from competition.

Chief casualty is U.S. network equipment maker Cisco Systems Inc (CSCO.O), which in 2012 counted 60 products on the Central Government Procurement Center's (CGPC) list, but by late 2014 had none, a Reuters analysis of official data shows.

Smartphone and PC maker Apple Inc (AAPL.O) has also been dropped over the period, along with Intel Corp's (INTC.O) security software firm McAfee and network and server software firm Citrix Systems (CTXS.O).

China has been better than America at business for centuries. American business thinks it is their gold rush. Think again.

Also the Chinese didn't waste trillions of dollar building thousands and thousands of nukes. They mostly let the USSR and the USA waste their money on the Cold War.

Dropping equipment they know might be a security issue is the real topic here.

Cisco CEO Writes Letter To Obama Asking Him To Stop The NSA Hacking Into His Equipment

Cisco's CEO John Chambers has made a personal appeal to President Obama asking that the federal government rein in NSA spying.

In a letter, embedded below, Chambers implores the President to create new standards of conduct for the NSA. The letter was first reported by The Financial Times.

Chambers wrote the letter in response to a photo that went viral last month that reportedly showed the NSA secretly inserting spyware into Cisco routers.

Thanks, NSA...every government and business in the world must be re-thinking about buying any American made electronics or high tech product.
