General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI guess I'm alone for Hillary.
judging from the negative reviews.
I like her style, passion, and experience. I especially like her intelligence.
I think as POTUS she would work for women and family rights.
But mostly, I think she would work harder in high heels and makeup than most POTUS, since a lot more would be expected of her.

(65,616 posts)She seems to be the wicked witch on most threads.
Rex
(65,616 posts)Much more so than in RL imo. I think many people in RL view her as a moderate and will vote for her.

(9,148 posts)There are a number of protected groups.
Perfectly acceptable to have a place for discussions with like-minded DUers.
Not exactly a love fest, but certainly protected from the chatter found in General Discussion.

(22 posts)The Democratic Party is my favorite, so that's how I vote. Hillary will make a good president.
I'm far too apathetic to be one of the activist types who are perfectly content with perpetually swimming against the current. I'm glad those types exist, but I'm not one of them. I've tried to wear that mask, but it just falls off and collects dust.

(72,790 posts)You vote for her. And don't let anyone make you think differently. You are free to vote for the candidate of your choice, and you should be proud to do so.
I am not a fan of Hillary, but I am not in the business of telling people who they should or shouldn't vote for.

"I think she would work harder in high heels and makeup than most POTUS, since a lot more would be expected of her."
I hadn't really thought about that aspect - but it's a very astute observation on your part.

(90,768 posts)So, as others in this thread have already pointed out, you are far from alone.
The problem at DU/GD is a small but very vocal and hateful group that tag-team each other in seeing how many lies and distortions they can post about HRC in an effort to destroy her in our minds and keep us home on election day. I don't know how they manage to avoid being tombstoned, but apparently each post individually doesn't trigger that -- yet. Some day someone in MIRT will look at the overall record, or maybe the band of posters will treat us to a meltdown the way R just did and be escorted to the door that way.
I have a dream, anyway.

MannyGoldstein
(34,589 posts)The Third Way has been losing elections like crazy for decades. IIRC, Hillary was getting her clock cleaned in NY before Guiliani dropped out due to cancer.
Renew Deal
(81,869 posts)Numbers don't prevent the far left from getting candidates elected in presidential primaries. Lets look at how they have worked out since 1980:
Kennedy: Lost in the primary
Hart and Jackson: Lost in the primary
Mondale: Trainwreck in the general election
Gephardt: Last place in a 5 person race
Brown, Kerrey, Tsongas, Harkin: All lost. Harkin is 5th in a 5 person race. Clinton elected and reelected
Bradley: lost, but Gore was pretty good. He lost too
Dean, Edwards, Gephardt, Kucinich: All lost
Kucinich, Dodd, Biden, Edwards: All lost. Obama came from the left. He was elected and reelected.
Where are those far left victories? When will they deliver on their talk?

(14,177 posts)I do hate the drum beat of inevitability. If she makes it past the primaries I will vote for her. I would rather she take a different office or appointment in the cabinet preferably.
So, I am not going to jump on the hate bandwagon it seems a bit to full for me anyway. Nor am I going to sing her praises I can't carry a tune in a bucket anyway.

(28,552 posts)... is George Bush in a bra. Working hard is not much of an endorsement. Termites work hard at destroying your house. What work you are going to do matters. I'm not voting for anyone who isn't going to work for the 99% on ECONOMIC ISSUES.
I totally think everyone should vote (or not vote) their conscience. That is what I am going to do.

.... the old SCOTUS argument.
That's all HRC supporters got, she may be third way, she may be nothing less than a water-carrier for the rich and a certified neocon, but she'll make better SCOTUS choices.
I really don't care.

(2,280 posts)And all you do is damage your own credibility by making a statement like that. It is just trying to demonize someone for the sake of it.

One of the 99
(2,280 posts)And your statement was ridiculous which is why you can't defend it and decided to attack instead. People like you are the real Republican-lites because you use the same dishonest tactics.
sendero
(28,552 posts)... HRC damn sure is that. Tell you what, I said she is a neocon and a corporate whore, what else do you want?
Prove me wrong or shut up.
And while I am at it, I base a certain amount of my distaste for HRC on her husband. His tenure, with such glowing accomplishments as NAFTA, "free" trade with China, the end of "welfare as we know it", the repeal of Glass-Stegall, the passage of the Commodity Futures Modernization act , the Telecommunications act, and on and on and on set the stage for the disaster of an economy we have right now. And back in the day we were always told that HRC was a key player in the administration so I think it's fair to assume she would continue her husband's disastrous legacy.

(50,300 posts)it's nice to be true to ourselves every so often and support who we're really passionate about in the primaries. Hillary is certainly qualified, capable and will most likely be the next POTUS. But for me, she doesn't have the hard-to-define quality known as "It." In the end she'll get my vote, but in the interim I'm supporting Bernie. That's the best I can do.

(9,148 posts)Enjoy your self serving win when Jeb, Cruz, Walker completes the wet dream of pushing women down to the level of the Saudis.
Thanks. Stand on your principles. The Rovian machine will appreciate that & maybe even reward you for giving them the opportunity to send this country back to medival ages when women & girls had no power at all.
Enjoy your Fundie Christian Nation then. You helped build it.
I'll work for the Dem nom in 2016 & know I had a part in keeping women's issues from being sent backwards.
Go ahead & vote for whomever you want.
I will stick with Mrs Rodham Clinton because she has always endorsed the progress & equality of women when the PTB suggested she shut up. She is far from a Republican.
Pity you.

(45,120 posts)She has a wicked sense of humor, her compassion is off the rails. Hell I even like her laugh. Had she been elected in 2008 we would have had real health care reform, with a public option. That was her baby. All that being said, I'm sorry another 4 or 8 years of a continuation of the same economic policies benefiting the wealthy, corporations, trimmed bones tossed to the middle class while pretending that the poor don't exist and the poor working class just needs to work harder is not something that I can or will support.

(4,490 posts)I assume you're using hyperbole to make a point. Really though, would I vote for Hillary Clinton if she wins the primary? Most likely. I haven't become fed up enough yet to support the burn it all down strategy of letting the GoP win the presidency. They are cartoon villain evil at this point.
I also think she is very intelligent, hard working, and has excellent leadership qualities. That said, there are still seemingly legitimate serious concerns about her that I haven't seen legitimately addressed like the TPP and ties to Wallstreet that have been brought up.
