Phoenix the husky mix is aptly named. The five-month-old pup was found in Twin Cities, Minnesota in a dumpster that had been set on fire. Thankfully, Clayton Van Wert heard the pups cries and followed them to a row of dumpsters, spotting the flames. He pounded on the side and heard howling coming from within. Quickly acting, he reached in and pulled the puppy out by his two front feet and called for help.
I dont believe that he got into the dumpster on his own, said Van Wert. He had to be put in there by a very, very sick person.
Phoenix was taken to the Act V Rescue where he has been receiving excellent medical care for him numerous burns.
Its sad to see someone would do that, stated Veterinarian Vickie Schulz with Act V Rescue. I dont understand it. I dont understand it.

Poor thing.

(27,817 posts)... I always find it upsetting when people immediately cry out for blood when a heinous act is committed, especially when they don't even know the details of how and why something happened.
But in the case of cruelty to a helpless animal, I think an eye for an eye is the appropriate justice to be meted out.

(46,585 posts)My point is people who are capable of carrying out such acts of cruelty on a defenseless creature (which is what I find upsetting), and that includes children, are almost certainly incapable of remorse and require punishment to grasp the gravity of their crime.

(9,126 posts)That little guy deserves a chance at a good life. He's been through enough. He is going to be a gorgeous dog. People make me so sad sometimes. But there are a lot more good people in this story than bad.

(65,616 posts)We are a strange species. We are a diverse creature - some are unbelievably humble and charitable, some unimaginably cruel. Seems some are just born without empathy. At best they do not harm others around them as they grow older. At worst they become a tyrant in some hellhole nation or set a puppy on fire. IMO.

His name is Phoenix.
And yes, he did rise from the ashes.
Phoenix is a 5-month-old Husky mix found Friday night in a burning garbage bin in Redby, Minn., who is now being cared for at a Twin Cities animal rescue clinic.
His prognosis? A long recovery.
"I suspect he will need some skin grafting in the future," Dr. Vicki Schulz, a veterinarian with Act V Rescue and Rehabilitation in Bloomington, Minn., who is caring for Phoenix, said Monda
