You know, I'd be just fine with all of that.
For once, I would say that he would have been doing his freaking job for a change.
But he didn't and we never got the chance to congratulate him for a job well done
Mostly because he was the biggest fuck-up ever to inhabit the Oval Office since the days of Herbert Hoover. A lack of opportunity, I say.
But we have a current president whose positives far outweigh his negatives by any stretch of the imagination
And yet, for some, that's not good enough. So, why waste opportunities that are put in front of you?
That goes for everyone, lefties and righties alike.
There are those on one side who want to replace him with someone who is ready to install policies that are nothing more than the Bush years on anabolic steroids and on the other, people who are still wishing that Obama comes to the rescue of their own special concerns like The Lone Ranger and Tonto put together with their necks in nooses.
Yes, yes, yes.. I understand that it's our God-given right to bitch and groan about all things presidential day in and day out. What good will it help your cause, if he's supposed to be the only guy you have and you have to try to take him down?
Have fun with that.
Whatever your problems with the guy, he sure is better than the alternative.
I just want to point out one other thing, whenever we have problems with what ever any president does, please consider that those things are done in the name of a nation. Bad things are done because we, as a people, allow them to happen. Now different people tend to view those actions with either derision or approval, based on their own politically tinge point of view. Whether on the right or on the left, this is what America has become, like it or not. We all are the good and bad things that we do as a nation.
Deal with that, please.
You want it to change? I'm not going to tell you what to do, because you're probably doing it right now. What you really need is to get is more people like yourself to make a difference to join with you
It's a numbers game, you gotta have more than the other guy.
It's not about what you're against, it's what you're for.
Everyone should always remember that, even when you're sitting alone and registering your approval or disapproval at any given moment.
This message is for everybody, wherever and whomever you are.
(P.S., Don't forget Congress, silly)

(73,631 posts)Beforehand, if some had told me about how bad that he could actually be, I would have told them that they were full if it.
But I guess that when you're determined to be nothing other than really, really bad while you're in the Oval Office, all nightmares are possible.

(21,925 posts)His name was never uttered at the last GOP convention. And I don't see a clamor on the part of the Republican establishment to put 'he who cannot e named' in any kind of position of prominence, to ask for his advice, or to solicit his endorsement. It will be interesting to see if he appears at the forthcoming GOP convention. If he goes unmentioned again, that could make for an interesting political ad by Dems that asks the people why they think Bush is being avoided like the plague although Romney nonetheless wants to continue the same policies.

(20,888 posts)Many republicans running the Romney campaign love Bush and think he was another Truman. A man history will redeem but the people of his day didn't get. They avoid Bush because they know he isn't popular with the public, not because he isn't popular among themselves.

(3,166 posts)the repubs would have not only boasted about it on a daily basis, they would demand that Bush's likeness be added to Mt. Rushmore...On top of that, they would make a female, Hispanic, and an African American do the construction while a white NRA member supervised the work...

(7 posts)1) Looks like your Guantanamo-style torture tactics on those prisoners overseas was a success, Mr. President. The CIA would never have extracted the info needed to find Bin Laden, were it not for the waterboarding done to those terrorist suspects abroad. Also, I laud your consistency in support of both the tactics used and of Guantanamo itself. It would have been quite ludicrous, had you pledged to shut down Guantanamo (and failed), yet supported the use of those same torture tactics elsewhere in the world, now, wouldn't it?

2) Excellent work on saving GM. The American now know that if they run a large business and support the same irresponsible business model long enough, they will simply be bailed out; the tax payers will be left with the tab, something to the tune of 40 billion that they will never see again. Excellent work. A lesson learned.

(44,182 posts)There are plenty of positive things Obama and Dems have gotten done in spite of the Republicans. Obama and Dems are going to run on those things.
In addition Obama and Democrats have policy positions that are positive and are in stark contrast to what the Republicans offer. They are going to run on those things as well.
Whether you like it or not.
I know it is popular at DU to claim there is no difference between Democrats and Republicans, and to pretend there are no positive reasons to vote Democratic. But the facts don't support that claim.

(44,182 posts)You actually said that. That is what I responded to. Rational people reading the subthread understand that, despite your attempts at obfuscation.

I know it is popular among a loud handfull of DU'ers to pretend there are no positive reasons to vote Democratic. But the facts don't support that claim.
Done responding to you. Because you will just come up with another rhetorical trick.
