Republicans had better divert some of their campaign cash toward finding a cure for Obama Derangement Syndrome. If they dont, their nemesis will beat them in a third consecutive presidential contest without, of course, actually being on the ballot.
GOP power brokers and potential candidates surely realize that President Obama is ineligible to run in 2016. Yet they seem unable to get over the fact that he won in 2008 and 2012. Its as if they are more interested in vainly trying to rewrite history than attempting to lay out a vision for the future.
Obama Derangement Syndrome is characterized by feverish delirium. The Republican Party suffered an episode last week when former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani began speaking in tongues about Obamas patriotism.
(snip)
Republicans need to abandon the fantasy that theres some sort of grand deception underlying the Obama presidency. Theyre only deceiving themselves.

(34,661 posts)This is the Campaign strategy of the Rethugs, keep blaming the Kenyan in the White House every way you can. This is how they won the 2014 Mid Terms. When you have all the Media pumping the same old theme it wears the populace down and they through up their hands and become servant sheep. Game Set and Match.

(4,407 posts)Rudy saying Obama "doesn't love America" is the latest in a long campaign to appeal to the emotion in republicans that he "isn't one of us." Some of the other instances or republicans stoking that feeling are the birth certificate BS, calling him a muslim, and associating him with rev. Wright as some crazy non-American radical. In contrast, the whole thing about "Bush is just someone you can have a beer with" is meant to reinforce the idea that Bush was "one of us."
So why do republicans want to do that to Obama? Quite simple: if they can stoke the feeling of foreignness, it'll be easier to get the public to oppose whatever Obama is doing, thus making it easier for republicans to pass their agenda or at least block Obama's even when in the minority. So republicans (not elected) oppose whatever Obama wants to do even if they would greatly benefit from it.
It's fighting a war by emotional manipulation.
