UPDATED TO INCLUDE (He is losing it folks):
Bill O'Reilly Goes Ballistic Calls Bob Schieffer A 'Plagiarist'
O'Reilly: I don't think he was there. I don't think he knows what happened and I'll tell you why If he were in the Plaza Del Mayo, where was the video, why did I have to run it up to the feed point and send it to new York? Id like everyone to ask him, Were you there? because his reputation, his nickname was Room Service Eric, because he never left the hotel.
BillO then blasted CBS's Bob Schieffer for "big footing" his story which happens all the time in the news business.
If you write an article and send it in and another reporter put their name on the article, what's that called? it begins with a "p."
Howie refused to respond to O'Reilly's accusations of plagiarism, laughed and called it what it actually was.
Kurtz: I've always called it "big footing" and you're not happy if that happens.
O'Reilly: What is it called in print? it begins with a "p."
Kurtz: I'll let you tell me.
O'Reilly: Plagiarism.
Kurtz: Oh, if it's your colleague and you're working together
O'Reilly:I wasn't working together with these guys.

(23,664 posts)Glad to see David Corn won't back down and that the MSM (at least the CNN part of it) has now picked up on the story.
I'm still hopeful that we'll get to see an on-air O'reilly freakout that culminates in him being led off the set in a straight jacket.

(37,451 posts)"Nobody remembers this happening," said Manny Alvarez, who was a cameraman for CBS News in Buenos Aires.
Jim Forrest, who was a sound engineer for CBS there, said that when he heard O'Reilly retell the Argentina riot story to interviewer Marvin Kalb several years ago, he contacted Kalb and said "I was on that crew, and I don't recall his version of events."
Longtime NBC News correspondent George Lewis, who was also there at the time, agreed with Engberg, writing on Facebook, "Cushiest war I ever covered."
Did O'Reilly's photographer get "run down" and bloodied?
CNN has interviewed seven people who were there for CBS, and none of them recall anyone from the network being injured.
"If somebody got hurt, we all would have known," Alvarez said.

(2,382 posts)... all his miserable life. But, like every bully Satan ever defecated, he's a craven coward and a pathological liar. Roger Ailes and his merry band of mental defectives have the honor and morals of a pack of hyenas. Wait, no... that does a disservice to hyenas; they actually serve a purpose in the Grand Scheme of Things. Pox News does not.

(34,136 posts)Eric, I sent this comment, eralier, to Joseph Galloway: "Joseph Galloway - I know this fraud from my days as a cub reporter at CBS News in Atlanta where O'Reilly spent a short time. I say a short time because, even then, O'Reilly was a complete fraud - refusing to do the hard, grunt work of a neophyte reporter to earn his stripes. He was lazy, flippant, self-centered, egotistical and full of excuses (There's a word for excuses I won't use here) When called to go on stories in the middle of the night, he was too good for that. And for almost anything else he was asked to do. Today, we are witnessing the same old fraud at play. Cheers!"

(82,849 posts)The short answer, as Corn well knows, is "no." It's really quite easy. But Fox and its minions have a job to do, and that job is to confuse and frighten folks. The fact that Billo has been caught - badly - makes their job a little harder, which is indeed complicated. Kurtz can't be bothered with fact-checking Billo's brandishing of the times article; not if he wants to keep his phony-baloney job. Besides, Kurtz can't be sure what Billo might do if provoked. He's crazed enough at his most sedate, and this episode really has Billo torked all out of shape.

(20,166 posts)I remember he and I got into a snippy private email exchange in 2001 or so. I can't remember what it was about (it had to do with Bush), but I sent a response to him on a column he wrote, pointing out something that I thought was wrong in it.
He shot back with what I thought was a very snotty response and I responded in defense of my original point. I don't recall how many emails we exchanged (it wasn't a lot), but he ended up writing something that actually reinforced what I was saying. When I pointed that out to him, I never heard from him again.
I wish I had saved those emails.
