UH OH...Benjamin Netanyahu Hires Top Defense Attorney For Possible Corruption Case

According to the report, Benjamin and Sara Netanyahu spent 8,166 shekels ($2,117) per month to clean their private residence in Caesarea, even though they stay most of the time at the official residence in Jerusalem -- which carried cleaning costs as high as 1.1 million shekels ($285,251) a year. They racked up another $68,000 in one year on expenses for makeup, hairstyle and presentation services.

If he gets reelected, it will prove that the people of Israel are just as ignorant as they are in the US.

leading a military effort to free the hostages of the Palestinians at Entebbe in Uganda.

Netanyahu is a reminder and a sort of insurance policy that the Israeli government will put the security of the Israeli people as the top priority.

I'm not saying he will be re-elected. But electing Netanyahu, I think, is one of the ways that Israelis affirm their resistance to what they perceive as Palestinian terror against them as a people.

For me, it is a symptom of the intractable conflicts that need to be resolved in the Israel/Palestine area.

To achieve peace, there has to be trust. On both sides. The more that all of us can do to encourage peace and trust in the Middle East, the better.

I have been reading the book by MacMillan, 1919, Six Months that Changed the World. It's about the negotiations (if you can call it that) that lead the Treaty of Versailles and the diverse treaties that ended WWI. Horrible mistakes were made. That is typical in the area of foreign relations. Horrible mistakes were made at that time and we are still paying for many of them today.

I do wish peace, trust, understanding and good lives for all the peaceful people in the Middle East.

But Netanyahu cannot just be dismissed. Whether he wins or loses the election, he represents the hopes and fears of the Israelis, and that is an important factor for all who wish peace in the Middle East.

He is what he is because of his experiences. As are we all.
