Article on Bernie Sanders's visit to Univ of Iowa yesterday

Sanders calls for revolution in higher ed funding

...snip...

Maddie Bro, a UI junior majoring in journalism and women's studies, said she has been impressed with Sanders' stance on student debt and tuition.

"He's actually willing to listen to the students," Bro said. "That's always the missing element."

Bro said she caucused for Mitt Romney in 2012 – when she was 17½. Her views have evolved in the past three years, and she's now looking forward to caucusing for Sanders next year — should he declare his candidacy.

Simone Frierson, UI graduate of African American Studies and current MBA student, said she agrees with Sanders most strongly on his efforts to make sure "everyone goes to college and everyone votes."

But Frierson was less interested in hearing Sanders' stump speech — which she has heard often on news channels and shows like "Real Time with Bill Maher" — and more interested in how he answered audience questions about climate change and curbing sexual assault on campuses, as well as how to inspire voters to go to the polls and make a different in their communities.

going to universal healthcare will be such a problem

Lack of GP physicians

a. because they dont make as much as specialists
b. education is too costly

Higher education must be free, maybe medical school would cost something but more inline with public service than cash.
