I would like to start off by talking about the subject and the subject is secession and, uh, nullification, the breaking up of government, and the good news is its gonna happen. Its happening, Paul, the father of potential Republican presidential candidate Rand Paul, told a gathering at the libertarian Mises Institute in late January. The event Paul was speaking at was titled Breaking Away: The Case for Secession.
Paul said secession would not be legislated by Congress, but would be de facto, predicting when conditions break down theres gonna be an alternative.
And its not gonna be because there will be enough people in the U.S. Congress to legislate it. It wont happen. It will be de facto. You know, youll have a gold standard when the paper standard fails, and were getting awfully close to that. And people will have to resort to taking care of themselves. So when conditions break down, you know, theres gonna be an alternative. And I think thats what were witnessing.

This is just what an ambitious presidential candidate wants - a dad who gave you all your support, saying he wants the country to break up. Ha-ha.

All blue Texans: I love you guys. But please escape to more sane areas of the country. Move to the Pacific Northwest! I'm Texan born-and-raised, and now I wouldn't want to live anywhere but in the Evergreen State!

(11,366 posts)I live in East Tennessee - Republican hellhole, politically, but such beauty in my mountains, four seasons and surrounded by my family.
I don't want to move.
How about y'all liberals move down here and change the political nature of the state?

(31,849 posts)should "conditions break down", any fall out will stop at the seceding state's border.
Should there be any break down, the only government will be local "war-lords."

The move is also coming from both sides of the aisle for their own reasons, if DU is any judge. As MLK, Jr, said that he feared that when the Promised Land came, all that would be left to inherit would be a burning house. The masters would take everything of value and leave nothing.
Prophetic about the results, but so many are working for this without seeing the end result will result in their death or serfdom. And their squalls for liberty and freedom from overnment of We The People will turn into bowing down to the man with most guns and money.
Those who say they hate fascism are still working for ot, but they just label the results differently and think that makes their revolution work. It's who has what resources and they'll either be beggars or petty tyrants to those they know when push comes to shove.

We are seceding alright but it will be secession from the oligarchs and their minions like Ron.

Let's let them try to survive without that assistance.
