Democratic Party stands for my beliefs

and then some. I couldn't imagine being anything else.

But at the same time, I am a bit jealous of the Republicans. They have a bunch of clowns running for president, most have announced, and there's one for every taste they may have, but, none suit me.

I do like that they feel free to enter the race unlike our Democratic candidates who are restrained in some way. We lost something very precious and I don't know how we'll get it back.

Matthews said the other night that candidates aren't running because all the top campaign workers have been hired by one person, and the money has been promised to one person. He mentioned promises of positions for support. Sad, isn't it. No other person has any major support or a way of getting it to enter the race, and they know it. Matthews sometimes hits a nail on the head, in spite of his constant interrupting guests.

A line or two of a goofy old song runs thru my mind, "Someone left a cake out in the rain,.....don't think I can take it, and it took so long to bake it, and I'll never find that recipe again."

I had no idea of what that song was about, but it's starting to have some meaning. Flame away. I will play scrabble today.

I don't see how that can happen. If Matthews is right, there's nobody capable to hire to help them.

Are 2 in a row worth losing our democracy?

I hope you are right. (I like Biden if Warren doesn't run and as VP, he is the one most entitled to be at least a candidate, if not THE candidate. He's getting a lot of experience - domestic and foreign - he's natural, and he's learned patience from Obama. Wasn't Biden the one who stepped into Obama's* office when they were both Senators, and he suggested to Obama that he run for President? That's what I heard)

*Spellcheck suggested changing "Obama's" to "IBM's"... not yet, I hope.

3. I think it is the "Executive Democrat" mentality.

I have seen it in corporations and now for 13 years in academia: Those in power no longer seem interested in grooming others to take over and then departing with dignity. What I see is those in power clinging as long as possible and actually hamstringing the careers of potential new blood in order to milk their power and wealth scenarios to the max. I find it disgusting.

Great song, filled with metaphors: the "cake" in this case was a love that was taken for granted.

That's why it keeps coming into my head. We thought democracy was a sure thing, and it isn't.

We had the LP - now that you mention MacArthur Park, I remember that our record was sung by Richard Harris. He wasn't known as a singer, but I can remember screaming with him...OH Noooooo...and the line about the cake is the only line I remember.

Thanks for telling me. I thought the information was lost forever.

They're not into work, though, so they just start early and trust to repetition.

Rand Paul is the only one that doesn't, but he has no other appeal.

The others just like to be interviewed on the TV....

She has sucked the air out of the room & a lot of enthusiasm, as well. I don't think she can win as easily as everyone thinks she can.
