Well, Glenn Grothman has made an ass of himself, just not on the House floor.
He's my congressman, BTW.
Grothman also touched on other issues such as lags in VA hospital services, proposed regulation of the Internet and immigration.
That latter topic veered off into different territory when one woman raised a point about the recent outbreaks of measles, suggesting that the outbreaks could have been the result of illegal immigrants entering the country.
Grothman responded that he wouldnt be surprised if that was a factor in the outbreaks and then slammed federal officials -- both in the Obama and Bush administration -- for what he said were failures in immigration policy.
Its very apparent that for whatever reason, and you can let your mind wander, the United States government does not want to enforce its immigration laws, Grothman said.
When asked after the meeting whether he felt vaccines should be mandated for school children or whether the philosophical exemption should remain, Grothman said, Im in favor of the current law, adding Its a free country.
When asked whether he had any concerns about those decisions when balancing them against public health needs, Grothman referred to those who choose not to vaccinate their children, saying those people are fairly health conscious as well, theyre pretty sharp.
