Man Falls for a Shelter Kitten and Shares the Story of Their Companionship in Photos

If you have adopted a dog or cat in your lifetime, you know that they can completely change your world. After they wrap their little paws around your heart, life before dog or cat (B.D. or B.C. respectively) almost seems like a dark distant memory. We have to say we owe a lot to our fur babies for teaching us how to enjoy the little things in life and learning how to love unconditionally.

Given the amazing bonds that we’ve seen develop between animals and humans, we can’t say that this epic love story between a man and his rescue kitten comes as a surprise. Still, surprise or not, their relationship is incredibly sweet.

When Imgur user, ErikBurton, walked into the local humane society with his girlfriend, he met the little ball of fluff who would soon become his new best friend, Soren the kitten.

There were about 20 cats of various ages in a room running around. There were five or six of us looking them over.

A year old tuxedo kept following my wife and I, and 'reaching for me' with his paw. He leapt from cat trees to cat house tops, staying with me.

I picked him up and that was that.

That were living on my patio. At first, I thought they were skunks because they stayed hidden in the shade, and that's my kind of luck. Once I realized they were cats, I started leaving water out for them (it was summer). First time, one of them wasn't fast enough to get away from me so I caught her, and then I made a trap and caught the other. I've since induced Kitty Stockholm Syndrome in them and named them Kemo and Sabe because they both have black masks. I wanted to catch the mom as well so I could have her sterilized, but she and a third kitten high-tailed it out of there after the second one was caught. The third was an all black kitten (like his mom) that I was going to name Snowflake, because I like giving weird names to pets.
