No citations will be issued to producers of the “Cops” TV show following the shooting death of a crew member by Omaha police officers, but OSHA has issued some recommendations.

Audio technician Bryce Dion, 38, was fatally shot Aug. 26 by police responding to a robbery in the Wendy’s at 4308 Dodge St. The robber, Cortez Washington, 32, was armed with a pellet gun and also died.

In a letter to Langley Productions last week, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration said the TV show should instruct employees on how to orient their bodies so their ballistic vests provide maximum protection when they come under fire.
Other recommendations include:

* Training employees on how to take cover in situations where gunfire is occurring, or can be reasonably anticipated to occur.
