Hilarious AND inspiring.
Jeff Jackson - NC Senate District 37
Due to inclement weather, I appear to be the only non-security person in the General Assembly this morning.
I feel like I should hurry up and pass Medicaid expansion.
Anything else while I've got the place to myself?

Media picking up on story:
Sen. Jeff Jackson has Senate to himself
Sen. Jeff Jackson has had a busy day.
Hes expanded Medicaid, restored university funding, approved non-partisan redistricting, made investments in wind and solar energy, outlawed puppy mills and enacted broad-based economic development.
And he may just be getting started.
On a day when icy roads and a curtailed schedule kept most lawmakers home, Jackson, a Charlotte Democrat, showed up at his legislative office for a morning meeting. When his appointment failed to show, he went to work.
I thought I would fix the state, he said in a phone interview.
So he tracked his imaginary progress on Facebook.
North Carolina is quickly becoming a national model for progress, he wrote in one post. Hey Charlotte its your airport, he said in another.
Just came back from the Senate chamber. All votes were unanimous, he wrote. This is going to be like Night at the Museum except at the end well have a stronger middle class.
Jackson only wishes it could be that easy.

As the day wore on and an otherwise bored political class flipped through Twitter, Jacksons escapade drew more attention eventually making it to the gossipy website BuzzFeed, where someone posted his one-man takeover of state government.
Jacksons takeover began with an innocent enough tweet at #JustOneLegislator: Due to inclement weather, I appear to be the only non-security person in the General Assembly this morning. I feel like I should hurry up and approve Medicaid expansion. Anything else while Ive got the place to myself?
Then he went through a checklist of Democratic causes, at one point adding: I just defeated a filibuster because I needed a drink of water.
At another point: Am now receiving lots of calls from actual lobbyists. Even the false impression of power gets their attention.
