I always assumed that we would be throwing her a 100th birthday party. Ridiculous as this sounds, it never dawned on me that she wouldn't live to 100. She was in such good health and had all her wits up until close to the end.

Did your family throw your grandma a 100th birthday party?

Here she is at her 100th Birthday Party in 2012

?oh=06aaa18379a57b15ed4f27b7f0767848&oe=558D03E5

She fell and broke her hip a couple of months ago, had hip-replacement surgery, and was up doing PT like the next day. She's riding her stationary bike again like she never missed a beat.

Here I am with my grandparents at their 70th Anniversary Party in 2010. I tell people I'm 6'3" when I show them this picture, but the truth is, I'm only 5'9" hahaha

This was the second 70th Wedding Anniversary Party I've been to. The first was in 1980 for my grandfather's parents. Everyone on my mother's side of the family live forever lol And here I am, 48 and never married. I tell people that in my family, I can get married at age 50 and still live to see my 40th Wedding Anniversary. It's not that far fetched!

40 YEARS!!!!

That was fun

EDIT: well, that didn't work.

By the time he was 30, he had already lived under eight presidents.

Truman
Eisenhower
Kennedy
Johnson
Nixon
Ford
Carter
Reagan

I'm almost that age and I've only lived under five. Doesn't really help that the last three presidents have been two-termers.

The most startling thing she said that made an impression on me was that when she was a little girl most of the birds were red, blue, or yellow. She said black birds were in the minority. I can't imagine!

I was born in 1974 shortly before Nixon resigned. Before I turned 7, Raygun was inaugurated.

Not that there's anyone around here at this age, but someone born March 3rd, 1841 would have seen 6 Presidents before they reached 10
