Republicans Losing Another Shutdown Showdown

First Read: “In our experience, there’s a simple rule to follow to make sense of any shutdown showdown: The side that’s divided usually loses. And Republicans are the ones who are divided in the battle over funding the Department of Homeland Security — over whether or not to include riders overturning Obama’s executive actions on immigration.”

“Playing politics with security is always problematic. But it’s doubly problematic when your party is divided.”

1. They want to blame Democrats because more did not vote with republicans, huh?

What about the clause to stop Obama's executive order on immigration when that failed to produce an immigration bill. The failure still points to the Republicans.

6. With one big difference. Democrats in general are more willing to compromise. Republicans aren't.

And another: Democrats never held entire agencies hostage to get their way.

9. But, gubernatorial elections -ARE- timed.

Wisconsin had pretty even alternation of parties in the governors mansion until the elections were changed to occur in off-years from the presidential election.

Enough dems don't do the off-year elections to give the r's an advantage.

7. Maybe they think it's a winning formula for 2016

Didn't hurt them in 2014, statewide races like the Senate and Governor were a fairly successful venture for them. It makes their base happy anyway and that's the turnout that helps them when Democrats are lackadaisical.
