US cuts intel with Netanyahu after he leaks and distorts Iran info

A perfect storm brews in the Middle East http://ln.is/washingtonpost.com/rNNwm … US cuts intel with Netanyahu after he leaks and distorts Iran info

TEL AVIV — Mistrust between the Obama administration and Benjamin Netanyahu has widened even further in recent days because of U.S. suspicion that the Israeli prime minister has authorized leaks of details about the U.S. nuclear talks with Iran.

The decision to reduce the exchange of sensitive information about the Iran talks was prompted by concerns that Netanyahu’s office had given Israeli journalists sensitive details of the U.S. position, including a U.S. offer to allow Iran to enrich uranium with 6,500 or more centrifuges as part of a final deal.

Obama administration officials believed these reports were misleading because the centrifuge numbers are part of a package that includes the size of the Iranian nuclear stockpile and the type of centrifuges that are allowed to operate. A deal that allowed 500 advanced centrifuges and a large stockpile of enriched uranium might put Iran closer to making a bomb than one that permitted 10,000 older machines and a small stockpile, the administration argues.

An initial report Sunday by Israel’s Channel 2 news that the administration had cut all communications with Israel about the Iran talks was denied by White House spokesman Alistair Baskey. Sources here said that Philip Gordon, the Middle East director for President Obama’s National Security Council, would see Israeli national security adviser Yossi Cohen and other senior officials on Monday. The discussion would include Iran policy, but U.S. officials aren’t likely to share the latest information about U.S. strategy in the talks.

2. 'Israel Will Try To Halt ‘Dangerous’ Nuclear Deal With Iran'

By Associated Press February 8

JERUSALEM — Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says Israel will do everything it can to prevent world powers from reaching a “bad and dangerous deal” with Iran over its disputed nuclear program.

He told a weekly Cabinet meeting Sunday that with the United States and Iran aiming for a framework agreement next month, “we will do everything to thwart a bad and dangerous deal that will cast a dark cloud on the future of the state of Israel and its security.”

The United States, the other members of the U.N. Security Council and Germany hope to clinch a deal setting long-term limits on Tehran’s uranium enrichment.

Netanyahu’s comments come amid an uproar over his planned speech about Iran before the U.S. Congress next month. The visit was arranged behind the White House’s back.

Not our allies, not our own government apparatuses(i?). Do we think that the Executive gets along with the Legislative gets along with the Judicial? Hell no. And every body in each of these US branches is clawing to get up over the back of its coworker. Are the French and the Brits and the Allemagnes all working together? (Rhetorical question.)

Everyone is working on their own agendas - even within the same government agency (I know: State, DoD). CIA vs. FBI vs. NSA - you gotta know they don't trust each other. Joe from the xxx Agency doesn't trust Mary who is right down the hall.

The only way you get these asshats to work together is to make their LIVES DEPEND ON IT. Unfortunately everyone in all these countries/agencies/departments/corridors are all sitting fat and happy on their salaries, trying to justify their taxpayer-funded existence, and not having to deal with REAL CRISES. Maybe one of these REAL CRISES will be generated soon?

Are we going to search his plane when it lands in Washington? Or does he get a pass that Snowden didn't get? Do we value Israel more than Bolivia?

Supposedly they both revealed US secrets didn't they? Is Boehner in on it?

I personally think that isn't a reason to lock or hide. I think these types of threads offer great discussions. The CT Posse will let this pass because it favors the USofA. They only lock or hide CT that goes against their world view.
