What did everyone do for Valentine's Day-Night?

I've been sick since Wednesday with a bad cold. It's why I'm way behind on email etc. One of the dogs (Sweetie) had to go to the vet unexpectedly. She is fine now.

But we made it to dinner tonight thanks to a boatload of cold meds. We were 1/2 mile away when Marta asked IF I remembered her card? Honey turn the car around.... My driving is limited these days.

We still made it with time to spare for our reservation. A traditional Omaha family owned steak house open since 1922: http://www.johnnyscafe.com/

During appetizers we exchanged those cards. Good thing we went back to get it. A small present was tucked in the card. I surprised her.

Dinner and the staff were excellent as always. The first half of our evening ended. A drive home to our 3 dogs. As always they treated us like rock stars when we walked in the door.

Many long years ago Marta and I became huge fans of Andrew Lloyd Webber's stage version of The Phantom. Seeing the touring version when it came to Omaha was a must.

We got matching inexpensive silver phantom rings. Handmade and unlicensed.

We hated the 2004 film. The cast was good. The movie itself was a piece of crap.

Last year at an estate sale we picked up the real jewel version to watch: http://www.blu-ray.com/The-Phantom-of-the-Opera-at-the-Royal-Albert-Hall/61596/

At the end we see FIVE different Phantoms together on stage:

More info on this must have video for Phantom fans: http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-Phantom-of-the-Opera-at-The-Royal-Albert-Hall-Blu-ray/29303/

I'm sure by now you know what we watched with our 3, 4 legged kids at our side and in our laps.

It is rated a high romance production. A beautiful evening.

So what did everybody else do?

If you see a hoard of half-naked runners in Omaha on Saturday, don’t call the police. The Cupid’s Undie Run is in town.

The race invites participants to put on their bedroom best and race through Midtown Crossing for roughly one mile in the name of charity. The Valentine’s Day event benefits the Children’s Tumor Foundation.

Nudity, thongs and pasties are not allowed. You must be at least 21 years old to participate.

Organizers are expecting more than 300 people to attend, similar to last year’s turnout. The 2014 race raised $36,000.

by themselves. They posted on Facebook and some of their fans actually donated!

It was hilarious! The whole scene - noise, tons of crazy people, loud disco music, flashing lights and videos on the walls, balloons, funny hats, masks, face paint, fright wigs, hot pink tutus, crowns, pompoms, at least one long red bathrobe, some dude in a large Guy Fawkes mask, flying sprays of glitter and what looked like soap flakes, the works! Cameras were everywhere - some people had those long extended "selfie" wands like President Obama was using in that video that got so much publicity a couple of days ago. There was a short, stout, hairy white guy wearing a BIG brown Afro wig that literally was as tall as he was! There was a girl wearing a full-length bright yellow banana suit - DAMMIT my photos of her were all blurry. There were multiple superheroes, male and female. More than a few red capes even among the non superheroes. You could barely get through the room. It started at a packed club on a side street, everybody had a great time! Everybody everywhere had big silly smiles on their faces. Even the cops on the beat were clearly enjoying it. Just a whole bunch of silly goofy fun - for about a mile or so around the block near the Pacific Design Center. I'm sure it was on the local news tonight. I saw remote trucks from at least two stations.

Believe men, NOBODY wants to see me in my underwear, so I just followed along and tried to take photos that weren't blurred somehow. Besides, admiring my boys is plenty enough - they're fun to look at! Terrific turnout, and very sunny warm weather! Good thing, too, because some people really had very little on. I'd had kind of a frustrated crabby morning. This event certainly left me with a big smile on my face! And the boys were happy, too. At first they weren't sure, but our guitar player, Josh, loves this stuff, and insisted it'd be fun. EXCELLENT call, Josh!

thank you for participating in the Cupid Undie Run for the Children's Tumor Foundation. My son and I both have Neurofibromatosis Type 1 or NF1 for short. It is a genetic disorder that occurs in 1 out of 3,000 births. NF2 is more rare and also more serious causing hearing loss and often paralysis if the facial nerve needs to have an operation. I have lost three friends to NF and all were in their late 30's or early 40.

The Children's Tumor Foundation as a great web site for anyone wishing to learn more. My son looks like Disney's version of Hunchback of Notre Dame. NF presents itself very differently.

Calimary, please pass along my thanks to the others in your group who ran for a cure. NF has no cure at this time and can be a spontaneous mutation forming on chromosome 17 for NF1 and chromosome 22 for NF2. For a person with NF it is a crap shoot when deciding to have a child. I have NF friends whose children do not have NF while other families have several children with NF. You and Omaha Steve have made not only my day by your post but hundreds of NF families, too.

I've been fighting some respiratory gunk for a week and have coughed so frequently and with so much force that i have injured chest muscles and almost blacked-out. After almost collapsing in the grocery store, i decided to go make sure this was ~not~ pneumonia.

A zillion tests and such later, it is just severe, virally-caused bronchitis... and so once i got home, i bundled up in a blanket and watched TV until i conked-out on the couch.
