Because they were loving.....
Richard and Mildred Loving stood by one another and against a system that forbade them to marry a half a century ago. Their steadfastness to one another and their willingness to fight for the love and life they wanted to share paved the way for many other biracial couples. Without the Lovings fighting for their civil right to marry before the courts, marriages like mine and several other couples we know personally would simply not have been. I appreciate them so much.
Mildred continued to stand up for this civil right to marry until her death and stated her support for same-sex marriage as such. Below are the links to an article about their struggle and to Mildred's obituary. So many people owe their happiness to the determination of this wonderful couple.
