(25,816 posts)I could have posted lately about the above normal temps here in So Az. But I thought people would think I was gloating, and if I was, karma would ensue and I'd be inundated. Seriously, it's been one of the warmest winters ever in my 40 years around here.
I'm glad about the firewood usage, but think the worst will come in March and April. Weather is changing.

(41,835 posts)I would love to genuinely see what its like back east, how else can we see other than a live cam.. people have cams in their phones, why not shoot off a few back yard photos?

(41,835 posts)edgy DU can be some times... some one makes a remark and they are jumped by a dozen people even though what they said wasn't that monumental. It happens around here a lot...
we need to use that Just Kidding smiley=

(62,325 posts)idea of what it looks like here, our split rail fence is completely covered, almost, you can see the tops of the posts.
The streams and ponds are covered in snow so you would not know they were there.
And that is from the past few snowfalls.
So far, we have been lucky. The town ploughs are doing a good job so we were able to get out.
At the moment it is snowing, getting heavier and supposed to really come down tonight.
I'm not so much worried about the snow, we can always dig our from that.
It is the predictions of strong, almost hurricane level winds people are worried about.
And the temperatures which are supposed to get even lower than they have been, below zero.
A loss of power could be life threatening to people who are elderly or disabled.
If I can get the camera to work, I will post some photos.

(41,835 posts)If you could upload pics, my favorite is http://tinypic.com/ and from there you can post photos on DU. There is one that has . just use that and remove the IMG because DU will show the image straight from the address.

It's still snowing here and getting heavier, but no strong winds so far.

(68,644 posts)It's scary.
The President's Air Force Jets made passes over my skies yesterday making all of us wonder what was going on.
We actually said that, "What the hell is going on?"
It turned out to be our President coming into the silicon valley to have adult talk with adults....
Did you hear it or was it only over here at the coast?

I'd weep if that was my vette.

(36,450 posts)Close enough to view, or even drive to. This fifth generation Californian doesn't deal with snow well.
Now, if we can just get a couple more feet to drop.....

(41,835 posts)eventually and head down stream.. that's California's way of getting water these days!

(10,201 posts)It was cool, if you timed it right you could surf in the morning, and ski in the afternoon.
We left Sacramento at about 5am. Were surfing by 8am. Had lunch and headed up to the resort. We were skiing by that afternoon.
There is nothing more hilarious than 3 snow covered surfboards strapped to the roof of a car at a ski resort.

(41,835 posts)I always thought that was totally cool...

(36,450 posts)One of my crew members worked at Sugar Bowl. He would ski in the morning then make it down for the Tuesday night series on the bay until the snow was finally gone for the season. Times have been better; traffic would kill that plan these days.

(17,087 posts)It's across the highway and up the north face of Mesa Verde, but it's definitely snow.

(41,835 posts)You can just about feel the chill in the air! Look at that sky! Wow.. brilliant! Thank you

(17,087 posts)(But it was around 60 that day.)
This one was taken the next day, from roughly the same location but looking north at Sleeping Ute instead of south. I wore a jacket.

(41,835 posts)Reminds me of Utah, I have seen the mountains there from Salt Lake City.. used to go skiing there all the time.. Park City, Snowbird, Alta, and one other, that I can't remember.

(24,146 posts)mom took me to the telluride bluegrass festival when i was 11 or 12 years old. we camped in the black canyon of the gunnison and went spent a day at mesa verde on that trip and i was in love.
we were going to go up to dinosaur national monument and then come back across to fort collins, but she fractured her tailbone during the festival and we cut the trip short.
maybe i'll make this year's anniversary extravaganza a trip to dinosaur.
we're supposed to get some snow up here tomorrow night into monday, but we'll see if that happens.
NBachers
(17,133 posts)They had no place to put any more snow, so the owner had to hire a backhoe and dump trucks to haul it away. They're making room for the next two storms.
