Facebook: Delete post and notifications. Frustrated!!!

Why the heck does Facebook not allow us to delete a post, notification, whatever?
I keep seeing the same old junk. I have tried to delete posts from my few friends and family. I am done seeing it....cannot delete. I went to the Facebook site, 'How can I help'. Help does not seem to exist.

Many others have asked for a 'delete post' option. Nothing has been done by the Facebook Admin's. Why do they not give us an option to delete the post we have seen? Any ideas?

I don't have many Facebook contacts. I read the posts and I reply or am done seeing it.
Why the heck does Facebook not allow a "Delete" option?

Sometimes various options show up if I choose to delete post. I don't necessarily want to 'unfollow' someone I just want to get rid of the post.
Anyone else just as frustrated as I am?

You go to the upper right corner of any post where there is a little arrow pointing down (kind of grey / shadow). Click that and you will get options like "I don't want to see this"

the 'friend requests' from people who have died. Beyond creepy when their faces keep showing up.

and delete posts as well if you would like. Facebook's help section details a lot of that or you can just google it and some people will put up photos of how it's done. I would do so here but I can't easily send snaps...

be able to delete what others post? I don't get that.

You can hide posts in your own newsfeed, and you can delete your own posts, but nobody should be allowed to delete a post written by someone else.

Forgive this old timer but I sometimes am so far behind the 8 ball, I don't know how to express my thoughts with the correct terminology.

If I see something on Facebook from my friends, family, etc, I may want to deleted the post. Nothing urgent is posted,I have read or viewed the post, I just want it to be gone.
I will follow suggestions from DUers and hope the options available will work. I'm really tired of seeing stuff that seems to take a month to disappear.

Thanks for your input.
