What Karma Is And Is Not: A Primer For Reference

Karma is literally Action. It is Action & Consequence. Cause & Effect.

You push a ball, it rolls, it drops off the table, it eventually stops.

Karma is NOT revenge. It is not punishment although some shallow thinkers mistakenly see it this way.

You put a course of action in motion and there are predictable, though not always immediately known, consequences that may arise from that action.

SO- if you toss a ball in the air and forget about it, that ball may drop and hit you on the head. You didn't "deserve" the hit in the head.

If you throw a rubber ball against the wall and forget about it and it hits you on the rebound it isn't "punishment", it's a logical consequence.

If you throw a rubber ball against a wall and don't want to get hit, then you need to pay attention and move out of the way when it rebounds or hold out your hands to catch it. Or not throw a rubber ball against a wall in the first place.

In regards to reincarnation and karma- same cause and effect.

Many of us know that our actions in this and the next life don't happen in a vacuum. Our actions are mirrored back to us.

How else are humans supposed to grow and get stronger but by Action? Being subjected to the Consequences?

Are we perpetual victims of circumstance or are we our own Creators.

In Sanskrit and Qabala and in Rosicrusianism, a significant part of the symbolism with Karma involves the Letter "K" and the figures of Krishna and Christ. It is linked with the concept of the "Atman" or Actor or Chariot Driver.
