(2 posts)NATO has been closing in on Russia since the end of the cold war and this by proxy move into the Ukraine is just part of the US's plan to plunk NATO right at Russia's door step. Giving them weapons instead of negotiating a compromise is extremely irresponsible. Putin's government may be a bunch of gangsters but they have legitimate concerns regarding the control of Ukraine. That promise from the US not to move NATO into Ukraine isn't worth the paper it's written on. (All though it is at least this time on paper I think), unlike the "gentlemen's agreement" between Gorbachev and the White House back in 1992. That if the USSR let go of East Germany, NATO would not move one inch" to the east. As soon as the wall came down. NATO moved into East Germany! An infuriated Gorbachev demanded an explanation. The one he got was, and I'm paraphrasing a little, "Sucker!"
