Paris Votes To Sue Fox News For Erroneous 'No-Go Zone' Coverage

The mayor of Paris got a step closer Wednesday to making good on her threat to sue Fox News Channel for its erroneous reports last month about Muslim-only "no-go zones" in sections of Paris.

The city's lawmakers voted to allow Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo to file a defamation suit against Fox in a French court, the Associated Press reported.

A Fox lawyer told the AP that the channel would fight the suit.

"The decision by the City of Paris to bring legal proceedings against a United States news organization is antithetical to free speech," Dori Ann Hanswirth said in the statement.

"Fox News will invoke every protection afforded it under all applicable laws," the statement read.
