Omaha police are looking into why it took a year for officers to arrest three teenagers accused in the sexual assault of a South High student at a party.

Officer Michael Pecha, a police spokesman, confirmed Thursday that police have launched an internal investigation into the matter. No other details were released.

The student, now 18, said she was sexually assaulted while at an party in a midtown Omaha apartment. She filed a police report on Feb. 16, 2014.

But the teens accused of being involved — Javohn Templeman, Nicholas Bregg and Jalyia Templeman — weren’t arrested until this year.
