SAN DIEGO (AP) The secretary of the Navy has reprimanded three rear admirals in a case linked to a massive bribery scandal, but they won't face criminal charges.
A Navy statement Tuesday says letters of censure were issued to Michael Miller, Terry Kraft and David Pimpo. Kraft commands naval forces in Japan.
The statement says they violated ethical standards by improperly accepting gifts.
The letters are considered career-ending reprimands. The three are seeking retirement, and the letters could affect their benefits.
A request through the Navy for the men to comment was not answered Tuesday night.
Several other Navy officials have pleaded guilty to taking bribes from a Malaysian contractor that overbilled the Navy at least $20 million for port services in Asia. The case in San Diego continues.

To put it another way, it's the same as a company firing a person for violating company policy on accepting gifts from an outside vendor.

(46,758 posts)Tremendous punishment to have to live with a measly 6+ thou a month for the rest of their lives. They'll just have to move into a Florida retirement community where they can continue their bribery and quid pro quo practices, which are common in our communities.
