Vaccinations made my cat autistic

http://reductress.com/post/vaccinations-made-my-cat-autistic/
When I took my cat Admiral Ticklebelly to his regular veterinary appointment, I was expecting a routine check-up – but I left with an autistic cat.

I may not be a “veterinarian,” but I have watched enough programs on feline behavior (just search YouTube for cat+riding+roomba) to know that Admiral Ticklebelly has caught autism.

The realization came shortly after my cat’s vaccinations last year – for rabies and feline distemper. My veterinarian insisted that vaccination was “required by law” and that it was “extremely important to the health of my cat” and that without vaccination my cat could “get really sick and die,” but I should have known better. I soon learned from holistic reading materials that vaccination = autism.

Hilarity ensues.

No freakin way!

To my Ex-GF's Cat

I don't miss her, but I miss you. You are the only cat I ever liked...and I think you liked me as I'm the only person you let pick up and walk around with. Sure, you were crabby, sounded like a rusty can when you were meowing, would ignore the laser pointer and got pissed at me when I needed to work and not pet you. Oh sure, you'd complain and make me feel bad for feeding you the same thing and at the same time as her other 2 cats, but did you notice I'd always slip you a piece of meat from my dinner plate? I know you were old and stairs were not as easy as they used to be, so I was always secretly glad and flattered to hear your voice by the bedroom door when I'd stay over. I know her kids liked the other animals in the house more then you, and I'm sorry, but I liked you better then her kids anyway. And yes, I know you watched me walk away that last time I left; I knew I wouldn't be coming back so I hope you found that catnip mouse I left in your secret hiding spot...you deserved 1 last rush in your old age.

I'm not sure if you are even still alive as I haven't been by the house since March of 05, but I hope that you are happy, warm and still catching the beam of sunlight in your favorite spot.

Anyway, just wanted you to know that you were the only cool cat I've ever known and that I miss you.

and yeah, I'm losing patience with folks you aren't vaccinating their children.

That said, there is a small percentage of children who do have adverse reactions, and I can't laugh at that.

The vast and overwhelming majority of us should vaccinate our children. Not just for their own sake, but to protect the children who can't or aren't yet vaccinated, as well as the immuno suppressed.

A few fellow DUers have said that their children had adverse reactions to the vaccinations. I will not doubt their feelings on this.

Not to be a Debbie downer, I appreciate your position, it's my position too, but it's not funny to people who have been affected by it.

Peace!

I also know people whose kids have had adverse reactions. They are not being depicted by these satirical pieces.

People with good reason and evidence via personal experience with adverse reactions are rational actors. As one of these friends and I agreed, if the shoe doesn't fit, people shouldn't put it on.

I'm not trying to dump on your thread.

But I do see it as a punch in the gut, for those who have been through it.

It doesn't really matter if the vaccines did not cause autism. What matter is that's when they noted the difference. Perhaps something was already wrong, and the vaccine made it more clear. Perhaps it's the timing of the vaccine that falls in line of when you would notice a problem. Perhaps there is something different about these children that make them react negatively.

We just don't know. But we do know that some parents correlate that change with the vaccination. We can't ignore that.

If we ignore it, we will not learn from it.

But yeah, I see this thread as making fun of them, and their feelings, more than it's making fun of the idiots who have just completely shut science out.

Just my opinion.

You rub their tummies a few times and they are happy, purring like crazy.

Then, suddenly, they shred your hand and you bleed.

I confess my officially diagnosed autistic spectrum, fully vaccinated, self has been like that.

Yes, I've apologized to all those who are not dead.

It's probably why I see big cats as dangerous, but also as some kind of kin.

Vaccines can lessen the severity of future diseases and certain vaccines can prevent infection altogether, and today, a variety of vaccines are available for use by veterinarians. Any treatment carries some risk, but these risks should be weighed against the benefits of protecting your pet from potentially fatal diseases. An uncommon but serious adverse reaction that can occur with injection sites, including those sites where vaccines are administered, is tumor growth (sarcomas), which can develop weeks, months, or even years after a vaccination.

https://www.avma.org/KB/Resources/Reference/Pages/rbbroch.aspx

One of the suspects is also something that people concerned about vaccines have been raising (adjuvants).

The recommendations on frequency of vaccinations for cats at low risk (indoor cats) is being lowered, partly in response to this side effect. They are also changing the recommended site of vaccinations to the leg from the back of the neck - but to the leg. Not because it is less risky, but because if a sarcoma develops they can cut the leg off and still save the cat.

So - not really so hilarious, and not the best example to pick if you are intending to poke fun at people's concerns about vaccines.

There is a difference between the hysterical, inaccurate crap peddled by a discredited doctor and an attention-seeking centerfold, and the evidence-based, nuanced medical advice you posted. (Information that I have, indeed, heard from my own veterinarian.)

Much like the difference between the anti-reality climate science deniers screaming lies about global warming, and qualified experts debating the exact rate of sea level rise.

If the shoe does not fit, people should not put it on.

and frequency of vaccination, using an example where adjuvants in vaccines, and frequency, may well be implicated in a very serious health condition (feline vaccination) is probably not the best choice.

I often see normal sane people would go to the dr office. And came out zombies. And then I am remembered the dr office had a tv and it was tuned to faux. That's how it happened. Totally not associated with the vax but the tv channel.

I wonder if I could patent the action of changing the the tv channel from faux news as a way to prevent mental instabilities and zombie like symptoms?

I'd be rich! Of course being rich would make me issue myself a cease and desist order or buy a politician to change the law about the changing the channel on faux. Cause you know I'd be rich and its what rich people do. Buy everything.

But the gift to humanity would be worth it. no? Just change the channel.

And my cat is more psycho then autistic. Can I blame that on the vax?
