[font size=3]Like Romney, he was born into tremendous privilege
Unlike Romney, he endured tremendous personal tragedy. Lesser
men would have given up in fear
But he didn't. He spent every day of his life with the enduring
belief, deep in his soul, that "The Last Shall be First"
On a day we hear lesser men say "Borrow the money from your parents, if you have to" (for college),
You are missed beyond belief Ted
"The commitment I seek is not to outworn views but to old values that will never wear out. Programs may sometimes become obsolete, but the ideal of fairness always endures. Circumstances may change, but the work of compassion must continue."
--Ted Kennedy, Democratic National Convention, August 1980

(42,770 posts)been thinking so much about how it's not about how much money
you have....we are not faulting Romney for his money (well, maybe how
he earned it) but how he is so devoid of caring about those who are in need.

(53,410 posts)Money isn't evil. It enables evil people to be more evil, yet it also enables good people to do much more good things.
Like power, however, it tends to corrupt the corruptible. Lord Acton and John Stuart Mill are 2 of my faves.
Lord Acton:
"Liberty is not the power of doing what we like, but the right of being able to do what we ought."
"Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely."
"Great men are almost always bad men."
