After seeing the Beach Boys play on the National Mall in D.C. for Independence Day a bunch of times, I was pissed when Reagan's Secretary of the Interior ended that.

Instead, they started having a variety of performances at multiple venues throughout the area, and the first year they did that The Mamas & the Papas played to a couple dozen of us in the parking lot of RFK Stadium. Cass was gone and Michelle wasn't around, so Spanky of Spanky & Our Gang filled in for Cass and Michelle's daughter, McKenzie, filled in for her.

I stayed through both performances, and I was jazzed! I LOVE The Mamas & the Papas!

Cass was gone way too soon.. I love her voice.

I don't know if you meant Mackenzie was Michelle's daughter literally.. but point of fact.. she is the daughter of John and his first wife, Susan Adams.. just to keep our rocknroll history straight!

I saw the Beach Boys sing at a baseball game in San Diego back in the early 80s.

That sweet honey voice was so central to the harmonies we loved. R.I.P.

It's about a local town there, but it may as well be about how some look at Mondays.

I always chuckle because of her appearance in the 1988 Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "We'll Always Have Paris" (apparently she was a Trek fan) -

Mama Cass (Elliot) became sortof a legend among my (tail boomer) generation.

in 50 years, haven't they? What a contrast to the Grammy's last night.
