Prime Minister Harper, a born again oilman from Canada's Texas (Alberta) is determined to turn Canada into the US (North) version. While he is more articulate than Bush the Lesser, being reasonably fluent in English and passable in French, his policies are pure Bush when it comes to the eternal battle between resource extraction and the environment.

The containment ponds from the Athabascan tar sand area are now visible from space. What an accomplishment! Perhaps Raffi can add the containment ponds to his song CANADA.

When Hannah Arendt talked of "the banality of evil" she definitely could have been talking about Bush and Harper.

to use full links rather than tinyurls.

Many here are wary of clicking unfamiliar links (including myself). They are often used by spammers or to disguise creepy sites.

I know your links are good because I clicked anyway, but just a thought for future reference.

Thanks for posting this - its an interesting read.

Cheers!
