A geopolitical grade school feud has erupted in the past few weeks, in which House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) invited Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to address Congress without coordinating with the White House, a move considered breach of protocol. In return the White House signaled President Barack Obama would not meet with Netanyahu during his visit, followed by rumors Democratic lawmakers will skip Bibis speech.
Missing in all this is Netanyahus thinking. An Israeli official gave a clue to that on Friday, when he said Boehner had essentially misled the Israeli leader by claiming the speech had bipartisan support.
It appears that the speaker of Congress made a move, in which we trusted, but which it ultimately became clear was a one sided move and not a move by both sides, said Deputy Israeli Foreign Minister Tzachi Hanegbi on Tel Aviv radio, per Reuters.
This is the second time an Israeli spokesperson has portrayed Boehner as snookering the Israelis for his own political purposes. Last week Israeli Ambassador to the U.S. Ron Dermer said the Israeli had assumed Boehner would clear the invitation with the White House.

(25,251 posts)Will he admit the deception? Will he turn on the Israeli's and say it was mutually cooked up? This doesn't bode well for Boehner. Somehow he's go to be held accountable for this fiasco.

(36,437 posts)The chances that John Boehner got one over on poor, hoodwinked Bibi approaches absolute zero. These two clowns made a severe miscalculation, and are now throwing each other under the fucking bus. I'd love to see all Dems boycott this outrageous action and force Bibi to disengage. It looks like he's already looking for a way out.

(62,325 posts)of course was a patsy and willingly went along due to his own weaknesses.
It's just great to see them now fighting amongst each other.
What did the plotters think?
And they DID have bi-partisan support at first until the whole rotten scheme was exposed.
So they are LYING. Boehner should learn a lesson from this. 'Don't sell your own country out to foreign agents for your own personal reasons next time. But he probably won't.
Now HE has to try to refute their attacks on HIM.
The ISraeli Ambassador should be kicked out of the country for his part in the plot to undermine US FP under this president.
And Boehner should be disciplined for going along with it.
There is no honor among deceivers.
