Hacking Terrorist: Blech's Thread Notes -"Ransomware Becomes Mainstream"

Any ardent movie goer should have seen Bruce Willis's Diehard series item 4 "Live Free or Die Hard", on the issues of cyber terrorism (grossing over $300 million worldwide). A more recent twist on the same genre, is Thor star Chris Hemsworth as a hacker released from prison to hunt down a cyber terrorist in "Blackhat" (doing far less stellar box office results than Live Free). While many might scoff at the notion of cyber terrorist attacks, it turns out that they are real - and Profitable. As per the recent publication of a LinkedIn firsty of mine, Richard Blech (CEO at Secure Channels Inc) declares that;

As noted in his thread on LinkedIn (where the above pic resides) - "Ransomeware" - Richard states that;

Hackers have cleverly designed a method of attack to distribute CTB-Locker or Critroni crypto ransomware, arriving through spam messages and other social engineering techniques to bait victims in several different countries.

Mr. Blech stipulates that these CTB-Locker and/or Critroni crypto ransomware efforts have been highly lucrative for cyber terrorists. Instead of hawking his company as a solution to the Hacker Terrorist dynamic, Richard proffers that the good faith universe should seek supplier market prevention tools. As the Secure Channels CEO states, in his arguments that it should be unnecessary for end users to have to deal with theses problems, by the premise that:

Technology companies have to recognize the need to design technology to make life simpler for the user, not complicate it. Rather than tech companies keeping up with the Jones, lets design for the Jones’s. Let’s design and implement security solutions on devices that don’t depend on the end user to protect their data to avoid a threat.

My mind is blown away that cyber terrorism is an "actual" global threat - REAL! It promulgates a problem most of us don't take too seriously and proffers a marine type - go at the beast - methodology solution. Some speculate that "Blackhat" is not raking in box office dollars because no one wants to see a dress downed Thor. Others say the premise of the movie that a hacker terrorist could actually harm a nuclear plant - is simply too far fetched.

What do you think of
