DHS "shutdown grows more likely" - The Hill
Of the more than 230,000 employees who work for DHS, the vast majority around 200,000 would continue to work, but without paychecks [which] could deal a blow to department morale
A shutdown would also keep the department from hiring and training new employees, which would prevent the government from filling vacancies.

Homeland In-security will not be a result of this, and it is not just a hit to morale.

(86,636 posts)and upside could possibly be that such a stupid move might force the president's hand in splitting it all up like it was before thus dissolving the agency. Might also create some jobs. In some cases redundancy of coverage can be a good thing. It could also afford some much needed restructuring.
Just a thought.

(23,272 posts)Much as I hate the security theater at the airport, I'm not so sure I'd be thrilled to get on a plane once the TSA is shut down and there's nobody screening anyone for anything.
