Brian Williams and his Katrina lies

Not sure if anyone else saw this, but I thought I would post it here:

http://www.theneworleansadvocate.com/news/11526453-148/nbc-news-anchor-brian-williams

NBC News anchor Brian Williams' comments about dead bodies, Hurricane Katrina starting to gain attention, draw scrutiny

Williams’ account of seeing a body float by in the French Quarter — which remained largely dry — and even a claim of catching dysentery from drinking Katrina floodwaters have raised eyebrows among bloggers and elsewhere since he took it on the chin this week over a claim that he rode in a helicopter that was downed by a rocket-propelled grenade in Iraq.

“I was instead in a following aircraft. We all landed after the ground fire incident and spent two harrowing nights in a sandstorm in the Iraq desert,” Williams said Wednesday. He painted his earlier description as a “bungled attempt” to thank an Iraq War veteran.

The online feeding frenzy quickly turned to the 55-year-old anchor’s signature assignment: covering Katrina from before it made landfall, when he spent the night of the storm with refuge-seekers in the Superdome and then reported on the harrowing days that followed.

“When you look out of your hotel window in the French Quarter and watch a man float by face down, when you see bodies that you last saw in Banda Aceh, Indonesia, and swore to yourself that you would never see in your country,” Williams said in a 2006 interview.

There is a video on there where he retells this story and many people have seen that this is of course - BUNK.
This guy needs to go. Not sure why he was even on Nightly News last night. He should have at least been suspended.

Yesterday he tried to apologize for lying about a helicopter ride in Afghanistan in 2003. That lie was so big he was called into question about his integrity by FOX news.

Here is an excerpt from a NY Times article:

A Fox News analyst, Howard Kurtz, said, “The admission raises serious questions about his credibility in a business that values that quality above all else.” On CNN’s “New Day,” the host Chris Cuomo said that attributing the lie to “the fog of war” wasn’t acceptable and the Internet would “eat him alive.” Rem Rieder, a USA Today media columnist, wrote, “It’s hard to see how Williams gets past this, and how he survives as the face of NBC News.”

Having your integrity called out by FOX news is about as bad as it can get!

Republicans don't care if their politicians lie.

It is expected.

Their parties existence depends on their constituents being uninformed or misinformed.

They love it when their opponents lie !!!

Democratic, Progressive, Liberal, Socialist, Green and Independent Parties expect the truth.

They like to be informed.

They seek out the truth.

That is my 2 cents.
