Were we to sit down and think, and read a little, and nurture meaningful relationships and study nature, we could cut our expenses literally in half, and then in half again.

We've jumped the shark, bought into the lie, and are at each others' throats kvetching about our failure to meet unmeetable goals.

Color me unsurprised and trying to make it despite they hype.

but there is the ever-present threat that my job may go away at any time due to "downsizing", which is something that my company seems to do every single year at this time (I have been there for 10 years, and believe me, this is getting more than stressful).

It's the constant fear of financial insecurity that haunts so many of us. We never know when disaster might befall us whether it be job loss, huge medical bills or some other unforeseeable disaster.
