If This Measles Epidemic Started In A Third World African Country Instead Of Disneyland....

would the Repugs have treated it differently?

Look at all the furor surrounding ebola that the Repugs fueled. This measles thing has the potential to be more pervasive and damaging to this country and the Repugs are taking an anti-vax stance on it.

Oh well - I guess because it's not an election year.

And by the way - don't Repugs have children? Are they all immune from measles. Aren't they concerned about their families and friends?

I just don't get it.

The only exception would be the Glenn Beck-types who see mandatory vaccination as governmental overreach. But, apart from them, the anti-vaxxers are very much our own demographic.

a well plotted media 'counter strategy' is leading me to believe this is more a stalking horse campaign. Both Hillary and PBO are on record with anti vax rhetoric. Rethuglicans are pointing out that thousands of unvaccinated children recently came across the border. Who benefits from this more? Hillary is already getting unfairly mocked over her latest comment on twitter.

We need to be careful not to get ahead of or skis on this one.

Hillary:

The science is clear: The earth is round, the sky is blue, and #vaccineswork. Let's protect all our kids. #GrandmothersKnowBest

— Hillary Clinton (@HillaryClinton) February 3, 2015

Obama:

"I understand that there are families that in some cases are concerned about the effect of vaccinations. The science is, you know, pretty indisputable. We've looked at this again and again. There is every reason to get vaccinated, but there aren't reasons to not,"

"You should get your kids vaccinated. It's good for them, but we should be able to get back to the point where measles effectively is not existing in this country."

that some may not have run across this before. I will add a couple links for those cube bound souls who do not have time or bandwidth to research this themselves:

Discussion is one thing, obsession another, but distraction is what is going on. Any magician worth is salt creates the diversion to sell his illusion.

is that they don't give a rat's ass about their community, their environment or their fellow man. They only jump on board the caring wagon when "their own" is in need of having a public ill addressed.

Yes, some big name Rethugs have played the game the last couple of days, but I don't think it's quite fair to put it on the party itself. I live in Oregon, where many people with whom I agree on social and economic issues buy into anti-vaccine stupidity. It's astounding.
