He stopped by a bar in Denver that is frequented by students. I admit, I'd probably be making the same face.

(37,540 posts)The ones that don't delude themselves about birth certificates and the lies of the RW media machine. He's the people's President. Bush never was and Mitt won't be either.

(24,331 posts)You would never, never, in a billion years, imagine Bush just casually walking into a bar or restaurant the way Obama does and getting something to eat.

She said she was all set to just smile sweetly for this unique occasion and then thought, "What the heck!" and struck her usual pose.

Sen. Walter Sobchak
(8,692 posts)Arch conservative, but not a teabagger, worked for Bush for one term. Early Romney supporter and touted possible running mate to bring out the southern conservatives for Romney.
After his speech (which was mostly reminiscing about his diplomatic career) the floor opened to questions for about twenty minutes, most of them coming from thirty year old virgin looking policy wonks with leading questions setting him up to trash Obama, but he wasn't taking the bait. After several of these and visibly irritated he said "The President is extremely popular, you need to come to terms with that. I support Governor Romney but the President is someone who demands respect as an opponent and a man."
After several other questions he came back to the point, "this guy is popular, this will be a very difficult election to win" and eventually took some cheap shots at Gingrich and Santorum supporters.
My work takes me into some extremely conservative circles, and I still hear more people trashing the President here than I do there. People love this guy, while Romney runs the spectrum from alienating and weird to potential antichrist depending on your perspective.
