PATERSON — The city teachers’ union plans to file a complaint over a determination that a teacher attacked by a student in his classroom was healthy enough to return to work, the organization said Wednesday.

The assault was captured in a YouTube video, which allegedly shows a 16-year-old freshman at John F. Kennedy High School grab the 62-year-old teacher, yank him backwards and slam him to the floor last week in a classroom as other students looked on.

Paterson Education Association President Peter Tirri said the school district’s medical provider found the teacher could return to work.

“I don’t know how that’s possible,” Tirri said of the decision. “It’s clear that this man was body slammed with the kid on top of him and it’s clear that his head hit a desk as he was going down.”

The dumber someone is, the better in our culture. These morons (kids and adults alike) have more information at their fingertips than ever before in history, and they ignore it and act like troglodytes.

This video is a metaphor to what this country is doing to our education system.

Plus, anyone notice that the uploader wants people to "contact him about licensing" for this video? No condemnation or anything. Wtf...

"No respect for teachers anymore?" There is nothing new under the sun. Attacks like this have been going on for decades, though admittedly smartphones weren't as big a factor during my high school days.

"Self-imposed stupidity?" Yes, absolutely!

... she was a big girl who was probably running drugs for the gangs.

Carrying a pager was strictly against school rules. (This was before kids had cell phones.)

She knocked the pager out of my hand and jumped on the floor covering the pager with her body as if it was a loose football. I backed off, she got up, and stuffed the pager down her bra, with a "go ahead, I dare you!" smirk on her face.

Amazingly, she did not get expelled or suspended. Administrators rarely suspended or expelled anyone because it made their numbers look bad.

The funny part of the story is a few weeks later two guys got into a fist fight in my classroom, the kind of fight a teacher never wants to break up for fear of injury, and this girl bounced out of her seat, pushed herself between the boys, yelling some of nastiest things I've ever heard, and the two guys backed away from one another, and all three of them sat back down in their seats.

Teaching was, by far, the roughest job I've ever had, and teachers are not treated with much respect in this society because so many fools think they could do a better job. Most people wouldn't survive more than a couple of days as teachers in the rougher public schools of the U.S.A..
